Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Burraq Soft (Karachi, Pakistan) collects when you use Burraq Personal Accounting Software, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. Burraq Soft is responsible for your data (the “controller”). Contact: mahboobyasser@yahoo.com.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, a securely scrambled form of your password (we never see or store the password itself), your settings, time zone and currency.
- Your books are not collected. Everything you enter — transactions, accounts, customers, suppliers, stock items, notes and reports — is kept only on your own device (in the app's storage on your phone or computer), together with the log of changes in your books. It is not sent to us, and we can't see it. Backup files you save are yours to keep where you choose.
- Security and activity: sign-ins and the IP address and browser used, so you (and we, to protect the service) can see who did what and when.
- Subscription: your plan status and payment dates and amounts. Card details are entered on Lemon Squeezy's checkout; we never receive or store card numbers. If you pay by JazzCash, we keep the transaction ID and the number or name you tell us you paid from, to confirm the payment.
- Emails we send you and whether they were delivered.
Why we use it
- To provide Burraq to you under our Terms (our contract with you): your account, your books, reports and downloads.
- To keep the service and your account secure, prevent abuse and fix problems (our legitimate interest).
- To bill your subscription and keep the financial records the law requires (legal obligation).
- To send account emails: confirming your address, password resets, trial and payment notices. We don't send marketing emails without your consent.
We don't sell your data, we don't show advertising, and we don't use your books for anything except running Burraq for you.
Who helps us (processors)
- Supabase — database hosting, where your account and subscription are stored (not your books).
- Vercel — hosting of the Burraq website and app.
- Lemon Squeezy — our reseller and merchant of record for subscriptions: checkout, payments, taxes and receipts.
- Resend — delivery of the emails we send you.
- Anthropic — answers the questions you ask "Ask Burraq", the in-app helper, and reads receipt photos and PDF or photo bank statements you give "Smart entry" (or text you choose to "Read with AI") to suggest entries, and what you say to the microphone when Burraq's own reader can't understand it (with the names of your customers, suppliers, items and accounts, so it can match them). Typed or spoken entries and CSV statements are read on your device and not sent. Only what you type or choose is sent, plus a summary of your balances and totals when you tick "Include my figures" for a question. We don't keep your questions, photos, statements or figures; we keep only how many times you used them each day.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and data-protection terms. Their servers may be outside your country (for example in India, the European Union or the United States); where required, transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or similar safeguards.
How we protect it
Connections are encrypted. Your books never leave your device, so keep your device locked and save backups regularly (Backup in the menu). Passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes, sessions expire, and sign-in attempts are rate-limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect your data and will tell you without undue delay if a breach is likely to affect you.
How long we keep it
- Your account: for as long as you have one. If your trial or subscription ends, your books stay on your device (read-only) so you can come back.
- When you delete your account, your account and sign-in history are erased immediately, and the books on the device you delete it from are removed. Books on your other devices and backup files you saved are under your control — delete them there. Copies of our records may remain in encrypted server backups for a limited time.
- Payment amounts and dates may be kept, without your name or email, for our own accounting and tax records.
Your rights
- Access and portability: Settings → Your data → “Download all my data” gives you everything in one file.
- Correction: change your name in Settings, and correct any record in your books.
- Deletion: Settings → “Delete my account” erases your account and books.
- You may also object to or ask us to restrict processing, and complain to your local data-protection authority. Email mahboobyasser@yahoo.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Cookies
Burraq uses one essential cookie that keeps you signed in. It also uses your device's own storage for your books, your subscription pass and copies of the app's pages so it works without internet. These are needed for the service to work, so no consent banner is required. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Children
Burraq is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a significant way, we'll email you before the change applies. The date at the bottom shows when it was last updated.
